Santas do run around Greece, up the mountains and down the sea , but is there any gift…?

Thousands dressed as Santa Claus, flooded Chania streets on Saturday December 27, participating in the 4th Annual Santa Run. Regardless of the cold and damp weather PARTICIPATION WAS HUGE, enough to make the traditional Chania port  …red, as well as the streets and every single corner of the traditional Cretan town . The run, that was held for charity in Chania, the second largest city on the island of Crete, takes place every year during the Christmas period.

A couple of weekends before Christmas, Athens was “miraclously” dressed in Red, the morning after a night when the city had turned to a battle- field, by the  hundreds of Santas marathon runners.

Like  a miracle picture in the eyes of the Greeks, the visitors, and anyone who happened to find himself in Athens during the 6-7 of December weekend, Santas ran through the city with festive cheer Sunday morning, a few hours after the same city, in the same streets had become a war field as protestors torched the downtown with Molotov cocktails. In the morning it was all clean and ready for the first ever Athens Santa Run, and smiling, the  600 “Santa Clauses” gave the street a festive feel again. More on our earlier story .
