The third Paradise , where Ancient Greece met death… ! Michaelangelo Pistolleto spots his re-birth event in Eleusina, Greece



The concept of the exhibition at the Palaio Elaiourgio (Oil Mill) is inspired by the idea of ​​the “Third Heaven” (Il Terzo Paradiso), according to which Pistoletto uses a “New Symbol of Eternity”, which reshapes the mathematical symbol of infinity. Pistoletto has constructed three cycles, the two of which symbolize Art and Nature, while the third circle symbolizes the combination of both, Third Heaven’s productive “womb”. It is a project concerned with our individual and collective responsibility for social change.


Pistoletto, exhibits his work for the first time in Greece and he is considered a major international art figure and one of Arte Povera’s pioneer artists. These recent years, the artist deals with the meaning of the third heaven (Terzo Paradiso), a theoretical approach about the distance of the technological human with nature and the necessity to re-approach these two poles, through the creation of a third one that becomes the basis of their coexistence. Pistoletto’s work will include in situ constructions, works which will be placed in the buildings of Palaio Elaiourgio.


Some of his works also will be presented at the events that will place during his stay at Eleusis.

Manuela Gandini, Italian art critic and writer, is the curator of the exhibition.

Two Greek famous bitcoin hackers, the arrest and the Facebook thanks


Two Greek hackers who managed to drive crazy 250,000 computers and their users worldwide, Facebook itself, and the Privacy Security system of Facebook also, are finally arrested by the Cyber Safety Administration in Greece, and their malware is no longer posing threat to cyberspace, the Administration announced.

The Chief of Computer Crime Unit of Greece, Brigadier Emmanouil Sfakianakis emphasized that it is the most important case ever, Greece’s Computer Crime Unit has handled, since this cases’ impacts had become extremely severe on the global Internet computer system. “We managed to avert a significant threat of digital safety which caused big problems to millions of internet users around the world.”


This was their hacking business:

The Greek hackers used mainly the worldwide expanded Facebook’s social network to access members, users, their friends and social media communities, as to provide the malware, codenamed as«Lecpetex», and had already succeeded to violate a large number of computer systems in the recent months.

  • The perpetrators (31 and 27 years) were using the virus to fish passwords of electronic wallets on cyberspace that contained the digital-virtual coins, the well known bitcoins, and were transferring these passwords to other electronic wallets, which were under their control for profit.

Their methodology was to send a message to Facebook users, on which, the malware was appended as an attachment. In this way, they were succeeding to trick the users to open their message, a click that was automatically infecting the users’ computer.

  • But the malware, which the two Greek hackers had produced themselves, called Lecpetex, has the ability to self-disseminate, so it managed to infect automatically all contacts and friends of the first user who opened the first malware message, by sending simultaneously,  similar malicious messages. Thereby the number of infected computers worldwide expanded geometrically . 

Facebook, indeed, as it is now made clear, in order to meet the major glitches that caused to computer systems this particular virus, had to continuously change the privacy policy for its users, by introducing specific security mechanisms for all users, a policy that finally affected the flow of the overall operation of the network.

  • But the two Greek hackers were mostly able to overcome even the Facebook privacy safety updates, by using advanced techniques and software, and succeeded finally to infect advanced mechanisms and computer systems, not just Facebook, but also other web companies around the world, thereby making the virus, one of the most serious threats to the world on the malware level.
  • Alternatively, the perpetrators spread the malicious software by using special programs file sharing Peer 2 Peer, through which they offered  free “cracked” versions of popular games, songs and movies, but in which they had attached their malware. As a result, users who free downloaded these files had their computers infected


-The computational power of the hundreds of thousands infected machines was used by the two hackers for the production of online virtual money (bitcoin mining). •

-Also, the Perpetrators using virus were intercepting also passwords of electronic wallets that contained the digital-virtual coins ,bitcoins, and transferred to other electronic wallets, which were under their control.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         The online virtual currencies (bitcoins) collected by  the perpetrators:

a)were moved forward to specialized services of mixing (mixing services), through a specific network (TOR) in which Internet users gain access only by using specialized software to conceal all traces of their theft,and

b) were turned from virtual coins to real euros by using special electronic exchange services available on the internet, succeeding finally to collect illegal profits.



The malware virus,was also used by the two hackers for

  • The theft of passwords of any kind. By using the virus they were intercepting passwords from emails and accounts of any kind (e-banking, Paypal etc.) and creating an extensive database. A typical example is that they finally achieved the interception  of the  password of email address of the Ministry of Mercantile Marine, in the content of which the  perpetrators had gained full access .

Terror in Greece, the US Embassy and the 4th of July

United States Strongly Objects to Event Honoring 17 November..

The Embassy of the United States of America in Greece expressed its strong objection to the event held on June 27 at the University of Athens Law School and organized by the School of Economic and Political Sciences in honor of the book by convicted 17 November terrorist Dimitris Koufontinas.  The prisoner spoke by phone from prison.
This event was not a matter of academic freedom but an effort for a convicted murderer to make money from book sales.  Such an event is offensive to the memory of 17 November’s victims and to their survivors, the Embassy emphasized by its 2nd of July Press Release  concluding that the United States of America reaffirms its close and strong working relationship with the Government of Greece, including ongoing collaboration on counterterrorism  .

It is interesting that this, strongly expressed, US objection on the key matter of terrorism in this country, on such a fragile moment, was almost not considered important news by most of the Greek media, (as they constantly and systematically are leaded by the gov.’s voice) Actually on the 3rd of July News, the US objection on the Law School pro-terrorism offensive event, was shown on the News Program of one of the private channels,  by the US Ambassador’s statement on camera, but was announced by the journalist, as an on the side statement of the Ambassador on the occasion of the 4th of July, avoiding, of course, to emphasize the importance of an official Press Release of the Embassy on such an issue  .

 greece-topper   There was, indeed, this year as well, the reception traditionally held at the ambassador’s residence in Athens, for the 4th of July Independence Day, and took place, indeed, two days before, on Wednesday July 2nd.
U.S. ambassador to Greece David Pearce, made a clear statement as the host of the US Indepenednce Day event, undelining that “it is in the interests of the United States for Greece to exit from the crisis stronger”.
Ambassador Pearce expressed his admiration for the  Greek civilisation and the Greek culture and showed by all means his optimism for Greece’s future.
The U.S. ambassador stressed  that he will do his best for the relationships of the two countries to become more tight and improved.
“It is a transition period, and I feel privileged to be Ambassador at such a time in Greek history.  I will do all I can to strengthen and improve the many ties between us, to build on and invest even more in our relationship.  Let me repeat this in Greek.
